TYPENUMBER(S)        :     MX3900D, MX3910D, MX3950D, MX3960D, MX5500D, MX5600D, MX5700D

INFORMATION : New Back-end firmware has been released:
              - BEA3131PV33 for MX3900D, MX3910D, MX3950D, MX3960D
              - PMK3131PV33 for MX5500D, MX5600D, MX5700D.

                This upgrade addresses the following issue:

                * German setting in system menu has no influence on default DVD playback language

                         All older sets brought in for repair should be upgraded as preventive action.

                A. Preparation to upgrade firmware:
                1. Unzip the zip-archive attached to this Service Newsletter
                2. Start the CD Burning software and create a new CD project (data disc) with the following
                   setting:
                   File system:        ISO9660
                   Format:             MODE 1: CDROM
                   Recording mode: SINGLE SESSION (TRACK-AT-ONCE), FINALIZED CD
                3. Place the content of the zip-archive (1 file) into the root directory of the new CD project.
                4. Burn the data onto a blank CDR

                Note: ISO9660 is mandatory, UDF discs are not supported !
                   The final CDROM must not contain any other data except the file from the zip-archive.


                B. Procedure to apply the firmware upgrade:
                1. Power up the set and open tray 1.
                2. Insert the prepared Upgrade CDROM and close the tray.
                3. The set will display READING followed by DOWNLOAD
                4. The TV OSD screen will show the following messages in sequence:
                      Reading -> Update BEA -> Writing -> done
                5. The whole process takes less than 2 minutes
                   Note: Do not press any buttons or interrupt the mains supply during the
                            upgrading process, otherwise the set may become defective.
                6. Unplug & replug the mains cable
                7. Open tray 1 and remove the Upgrade CDROM.

                C. How to read out the firmware version to confirm upgrading
                1. Select Disc with the Remote Control
                2. Press  on the Remote control.
                3. Use the cursor keys on the Remote control to navigate to "Setup Menu" -> "Sub-menu" ->
                   "Default"
                4. Press the down key one more time to see the firmware version.
                6. The TV screen will show: xxxxx BEA313PV33 xxxxxx xxx

REMARKS : Zip-archive file: MX3900_10_50_60_ver_bea3131pv33.zip is for MX3900D, MX3910D,
                             MX3950D and MX3960D
                            MX55_56_57_ver_pmk3131pv33.zip is for MX5500D, MX5600D, MX5700D
                             except /35 version
