Subject: AUDIO DROPOUTS                                                    Date: October 22, 1996


Symptom:
  (57)         Noise generated from IC CXD-2600(IC102) and Crystals X101, X102 can be picked
               up in the Drum Assembly. These components are located on the servo board.



Solution:      Apply a Shield Plate onto the Servo Board. The part number of the Shield Plate is
               listed in the table below. Mount the Shield Plate as shown in Figure 1. Adhesive is
               already attached to the Shield Plate.

               Solder a wire with a solder lug to the Shield Plate. Connect that wire between the
               Shield Plate and a mounting screw of the Mechanical Deck. See Figure 2 and Figure
               3 shown below. The part number for the wire with lug is listed in the table below.

               Service Bulletin No. 319: This bulletin also prevents audio dropouts. Check the
               bulletin and see if these modifications were done to the unit already, If not, perform
               the modifications listed in the bulletin No.319.
