Subject: Does Not Read/Play MDs.                                               Date: December 14, 1995


Symptom:
  (51)         MDs are loaded but are intermittently not read or played.



Solution:      This problem may be caused by the adhesive from the lens cover preventing the
               optical pickup from achieving focus easily.

               If the customer complains of this problem, use the following procedure to determine
               if the problem is caused by adhesive from the lens cover:

                     1- With the unit positioned upside down, load and play a disc. If the unit can
                     load and play the disc successfully 10 times consecutively the problem is
                     caused by something else. Troubleshoot the unit as usual.


                     2- If the unit fails the above test replace the optical pickup.



               Applicable serial numbers: up to 32,000.
