Subject: Improving Display Readability.                                        Date: April 4, 1996


Symptom:
  (13)         The display may be difficult to read under some conditions in certain installations.



Solution:      If the customer complains of this problem, implement the countermeasures shown
               below. Please note that the specific countermeasures are dependant upon the
               serial number of the unit being repaired.

               Procedure A (for EXR-15 up to serial number 500900 and XR-2500 up to
               serial number 525300):

               1- Replace the light guide assembly, ref. 9 with an improved type.

               2- Change R373 from 15 ohms to 10 ohms.

               3- Change R374 from 47 ohms to 10 ohms.                                (Continued)
               4- Remove R372 (there is no marking on the board for this
               resistor. It is mounted to the same feedthroughs as R374, but on the opposite side of

                 the board).


                 Procedure B (for EXR-15 serial number 500901 and higher and XR-2500
                 serial number 525301 and higher):

                 1- Replace the light guide assembly, ref. 9 with an improved type.

                 2- Change R373 from 15 ohms to 10 ohms.

                 3- Remove R372 and replace it with a 0 ohm jumper wire.
