Subject: Afterglow On BA-1 Chassis                                               Date: October 13, 1994


Symptom:
  (12)               After the unit is turned off or unplugged, a small un-focused spot, on the screen, may
                     remain lit.

Solution:            This phenomena known as Afterglow is normal. It is mostly noticeable when the
                     room lighting is low.

                     Due to the ability of the tube to hold a charge an Afterglow can be seen. This
                     Afterglow duration depends on how fast the tube discharges. This phenomena will
                     not harm the circuits, CRT, or shorten the life of the set.

Caution:             It is necessary to discharge this tube before handling. Please consult the Service
                     Manual, under the heading Picture Tube Removal, for details on how to discharge
                     this tube.

Circuit Upgrade:           If a customer can not accept the Afterglow it can be reduced by replacing
                           IC-101 and resetting the ID codes as listed below:

Note: The spot killer circuit was discontinued, since the new micro circuit does the job that the Spot Killer circuit
        performed.
