Subject: Intermittent Or No Remote Operation                                      Date: August 23, 2000


Symptom:
 (2151)                Intermittent or no remote operation.


Solution:              The Multi-button Assembly 4-073-843-04 is hitting the Remote Sensor (IC2001)
                       8-742-134-00, causing the remote sensor mounted on the "A" Board to bend. Thus
                       causing an intermittent connection on the board and loss of remote operation. If the
                       customer should complain of this symptom the following changes will need to be
                       performed.



1. Places that are hitting the remote sensor are shown in Fig. 1

                  2.    Re-solder the pins of the remote sensor, IC2001, as shown in Fig 2.

3.       The multibutton can be modified or replaced for the new type multibutton suffix -05 (4-073-843-05) this
suffix was re-tooled as a permanent countermeasure. To modifiy the multibutton with suffix from -01 to -04,
follow the steps as the picture below shows.




                                                              1. Identify the part number 4-073-843-(01-04)
                                                              Area to be modified. See Fig 3

                                            2. Cut 1 stacking rib completely

4. Cut the rib as shown in Fig 6 & 7. Cut about 1mm off the corner.

                                                   To convert millimeters to inchese multiply 0.03937.


5. Cut the horizontal rib as shown in Fig 8.




                Cut this horizontal rib by about
                1mm.

                                                              6. Cut 1 vertical Rib as shown in Fig 9 & 10. Cut at
                                                              least 1 mm off the rib.

The steps above, steps 3 through 10, will prevent the remote sensor from becoming damaged do to the
stress placed on it by the Multibutton.
