A. Flash Disk Utility APPLICATION
1. Important Notices
"Flash Disk Utility" is an application program developed to perform
security/compressing/formatting/booting functions on this Flash Drive.
"Flash Disk Utility" should be installed whenever it's used with a new PC.
"Flash Disk Utility" is only available for Windows 98 SE / ME / XP / 2000
users.
"Flash Disk Utility" could not be executed under Mac OS environments.
2. "Flash Disk Utility" Introduction
Flash Disk Utility is a set of programs that provides a user-friendly interface to
help users encrypt/decrypt files or folders to secure personal data. It also
functions to make the USB 2.0 Flash Drive bootable, while compressed files or
folders allows more data to be stored in the Flash Drive.

3. How to install "Flash Disk Utility"
Insert the Installation Tool CD into CD-ROM
Click "Flash Disk Utility"
Select "FlashDiskUtility Setup" and double Click "FduSetup.exe"
Follow the instructions of the "pop-up windows" to install the program
Press "Install"
Reminder:
The default path for the program installation is under C:\
A preferred directory of your own could be selected by pressing
"Browse"
Press "OK" to complete the installation

4. Main Screen Illustration
Go to C:\FlashDiskUtility or the directory selected during setup
Double click the "FDU.exe" file to display the main screen
Reminder:
We suggest pasting a link to FDU.exe on your desktop or in your
Flash Drive for convenient future use. Then, there is no need to go to
C:\FlashDiskUtility every time to access FDU.exe.

B. ENCRYPTION / DECRYPTION / COMPRESSING FUNCTIONS
1. Encrypt Files or Folders
Double click the "FDU.exe" file to open Flash Disk Utility main screen
Press "Encrypt/Decrypt" button
Click the "File" or "Folder" button to select the file or folder to be encrypted
Select "Compress and Encrypt Selected Files"
Chose if you wish to "delete the original files"
Press "OK"
Enter your chosen password; then confirm the password you would like to
set up. Password can be from one to 16 characters long.
Press "Encrypt"

Reminder:
"Delete Original Files" is an optional function. While you choose to
delete original files, a warning message will pop up to remind you
that the original files or folders couldn't be restored.
Press "Save"
A window will pop up to show that the selected file or folder is encrypted
Press "Close"

2. Decrypt Files or Folders
Double click the "FDU.exe" file to open Flash Disk Utility main screen
Press "Encrypt/Decrypt" button
Click "File" or "Folder" button to select the file or folder to be decrypted
Enter the password you set during the encryption process
Press "Decrypt"
Select the path to which you would like the file or folder to be decrypted
Press "OK"

Reminder:
If the original file or folder isn't deleted, and the path you select is the
same to which the original file or folder is saved, then the file or
folder to be decrypted will replace the original ones.
A window will pop up to show the file or folder is decrypted
Press "Close"

3. Compress Files or Folders
Double click the "FDU.exe" file to open Flash Disk Utility main screen
Press "Encrypt/Decrypt" button
Click "File" or "Folder" to select the file or folder to be compressed
Choose if you wish to compress the file(s) without password protection or
not
Press "Encrypt"

A window will pop up to show that the selected file or folder is compressed
Press "Close"

C. FORMATTING / BOOTABLE DISK FUNCTIONS
1. Important Notices
Before enabling "formatting/bootable" function, make a copy of the file(s)
or folder(s) that you would like to keep.
All data will be lost and can't be restored after the Flash Drive has been
formatted or made a bootable disk.
The "booting" function is not supported under Windows 2000.
Under Windows ME/XP, the Flash Disk Utility only supports USB 2.0 Flash
Drive boot-up in USB-ZIP format if the motherboard well supports USB-ZIP
as a boot-up device.
2. Formatting function
Reminder
Files or folders will be lost and can't be restored after the Flash Drive
is formatted.
Make a copy of the file(s) or folder(s) that you would like to keep
before formatting the Flash Drive.
Double click the "FDU.exe" file to open Flash Disk Utility main screen

Press "Format/Make Bootable Disk" button
Select the "Format Disk" tab.
Select the format type in the "Please select format type" box
Press "Start" to start formatting

A window will pop up to show "formatting" is completed.
Press "OK"
Press "Close"
Press to exit Flash Disk Utility

3. Make Bootable Disk Function
Reminder:
Files or folders will be lost and can't be restored after the bootable
function is enabled.
Make a copy of the file(s) or folder(s) that you would like to keep
before making your Flash Drive bootable.
Double click the "FDU.exe" file to open Flash Disk Utility main screen
Press "Format/Make Bootable Disk" button
Select the "Make Bootable Disk" tab
Choose the boot type in the "Please select boot type" box
Press "Start" to make bootable disk

Once the "boot" system files are copied to your Flash Drive, your PC can
be booted from the Flash Drive.
Press "Close"
