Symptom /                 Under certain viewing conditions, the panel/backlight fails but audio is still output.
                          There will be no backlight, no picture, and there may be a whistle from the LD PCB
Cause:

Remedy / This modification applies to all units prior to: N*-2240001
Method:     Step 1: Replace the LD PCB (Part No: LD-42E5)
                   Step 2: Upgrade the PEAKS EEPROM

      Step 1: Replace the LD PCB

      1. Release the 3 connectors on the
         LD PCB, and remove the cables.
      2. Remove the 4 screws holding the
          LD PCB.
      3. Fit the replacement LD PCB.

      4. Replace the screws.
      5. Re-connect the cables.

  Step 2: Upgrade the PEAKS EEPROM

  Obtain the PEAKS EEPROM upgrade files from your usual service source.
  1. Uncompress the file.
  2. Copy the folders, folder contents and files shown in Fig. 3 to the root directory of an SD card.
  3. Turn on the TV and wait for the default screen to appear.
  4. Insert the SD card into the SD card slot.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade the PEAKS EEPROM software.
