PRECAUTIONS
PRECAUTIONS PFP:00001
Precautions for Battery Service ABS003MG
This vehicle is equipped with the automatic window adjusting function. When a door is opened, the window
automatically lowers slightly to avoid contact between the window and the side roof panel. After the door is
closed, the window will automatically raise slightly.
On vehicles equipped with the automatic window adjusting function, lower both the driver and front passenger
side windows before disconnecting the battery cables. This will prevent interference between the side window
and the roof panel when either door is opened/closed.
CAUTION:
After the battery cables are disconnected, do not open/close the driver and/or front passenger door
with the window in the full up position. The automatic window adjusting function will not work and the
side roof panel may be damaged.
Precautions for Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) "AIR BAG" and "SEAT
BELT PRE-TENSIONER" ABS002CR
The Supplemental Restraint System such as "AIR BAG" and "SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER", used along
with a front seat belt, helps to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the driver and front passenger for certain
types of collision. This system includes seat belt switch inputs and dual stage front air bag modules. The SRS
system uses the seat belt switches to determine the front air bag deployment, and may only deploy one front
air bag, depending on the severity of a collision and whether the front occupants are belted or unbelted.
Information necessary to service the system safely is included in the SRS and SB section of this Service Man-
ual.
WARNING:
q To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury or death
in the event of a collision which would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be per-
formed by an authorized NISSAN/INFINITI dealer.
q Improper maintenance, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS, can lead to per-
sonal injury caused by unintentional activation of the system. For removal of Spiral Cable and Air
Bag Module, see the SRS section.
q Do not use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed to in this
Service Manual. SRS wiring harnesses can be identified by yellow and/or orange harness connec-
tors.
Precautions for Liquid Gasket ABS000QL
REMOVAL OF LIQUID GASKET SEALING
q After removing the mounting bolts and nuts, separate the mating
surface using a seal cutter and remove the liquid gasket sealing.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage the mating surfaces.
q In areas where the cutter is difficult to use, use a plastic hammer
to lightly tap the areas where the RTV Silicone Sealant is
applied.
CAUTION:
If for some unavoidable reason a tool such as a flat-bladed
screwdriver is used, be careful not to damage the mating sur-
faces. PBIC0002E

PRECAUTIONS
LIQUID GASKET APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1. Using a scraper, remove the old RTV Silicone Sealant adhering A
to the gasket application surface and the mating surface.
q Remove the RTV Silicone Sealant completely from the groove of
the gasket application surface, mounting bolts, and bolt holes. CO
2. Thoroughly clean the gasket application surface and the mating
surface removing any adhering moisture, grease and foreign
material. C
3. Attach the RTV Silicone Sealant tube to the tube presser.
q Use Genuine RTV Silicone Sealant or equivalent. Refer to GI-
48, "RECOMMENDED CHEMICAL PRODUCTS AND SEAL- PBIC0003E
D
ANTS" .
4. Apply the sealant without breaks to the specified location with E
the specified dimensions.
q If there is a groove for the sealant application, apply the gasket
to the groove.
F
G
EMA0622D H
q As for the bolt holes, normally apply the gasket inside the holes.
Occasionally, it should be applied outside the holes. Make sure I
to read the text of this manual.
q Within five minutes of gasket application, install the mating com-
ponent. J
q If the RTV Silicone Sealant protrudes, wipe it off immediately.
q Do not retighten after the installation.
q Wait 30 minutes or more after installation before filling the K
engine with oil and coolant.
