General Information

This Operating Manual Supplement introduces and explains Option 001 (Sweep Gating) for the HP
3S85B Spectrum Analyzer. To fully understand and use the Sweep Gating feature, you should use
this supplement in conjunction with the HP 3S85B Operating Manual. When necessary, individual
parts of the operating manual are referenced within this supplement+

Specifications for the standard HP 3S8SB (when performing non-gated measurements) are not
changedwith the installation of the Option GOI. When using gated modes, measurement accuracy
will settle to within k 0.2 dB of stated accuracyif you use a gate delay that is 2 the minimum
recommended signal setup time.

The Counter function (Marker/Continuous Entry section) may give incorrect results when trying to
measure burst signals. This happens becausethe counter will continue to count during the period of
time when the desired signal is not present.
