Changes and additions to the language are identified by

might affect existing programs are:

 1.   Priority of the concatenation operator

 2.   Conversion   of   character-string    and bit-string data to
      arithmetic

 3.   ALIGNED and PACKED attributes,         including    change       of
      keyword PACKED to UNALIGNED

 4.   The form of the AREA attribute

 5.   The defaults of   REDU~IBLE   and IRREDUCIBLE
