IBM System/3SD Time Sharing System
System Messages

   Lists and explains the messages issued by IBM-
supplied components of the IBM System/360 Time
Sharing System. Contains additional information with
each message, such as the identification code of the
modules issuing and determining the need for the
message, the tz-ansmittal technique, and, where
appropriate, the format of the associated dump or the
completion code.   Includes SYSER and ABEND messages,
SYSMLF and general messages, messages issued by the
Time Sharing Support System (TSSS>, and messages issued
by language processors. Does not include messages
generated by the PL/I compilerTsee PL/I programmer's
Guide, GC28-2049, for these messages).

   The IBM System/360 Time Sharing System provides for
a dialogue between the user and the system. The system
participates ill this dialogue with a series of
messages, which provide the recipient with the
information he requires to fulfill his task. These
messages may be received at a remote terminal in the
conversational mode, in the data set created as part of
the output of a nonconversational task, or at the
operator's terminal in the machine room.
