This edition replaces the previous edition (numbered GC26-3791-0) and makes that edition
obsolete.

This edition applies to Release 2 of OS/VS 1 and to all subsequent releases unless otherwise
indicated in new editions or technical newsletters.

Significant system changes are summarized under "OS/VSl Summary of Changes" following
"How to Use This Book." Each technical change is marked by a vertical line to the left of the
change.

Information in this publication is subject to significant change. Any such changes will be
published in new editions or technical newsletters. Before using the publication, consult the
latest /BMSRL Newsletter, GN20-0360, that amends/BM System/360 and System/370
Bibliography, GA22-6822, to learn which editions and technical newsletters are applicable and
current.
