Subject: Abnormal scan image (Added Spacer to adjust the ISU base
Model: FS-6025MFP/6025MFP(B)/6030MFP, FS-C8020MFP/8025MFP

Phenomenon 1. Focus related abnormal images may appear when scanning. (See the images below)
2. An error may occur, when performing Maintenance mode U411 [Adjusting the scanner
automatically] after installing the Service part ISU.
Details The height and warpage of the Base of the ISU, varies slightly depending on the Main body. In
this case the optical axis may shift and may be interrupted by the Reflector. Under this
condition, the LED light may be shifted to the Optical guide plate.
Solution Please install the Spacer to adjust the height of the Base of the ISU according to the procedure
on the following pages or the Leaflet. The Spacer and Leaflet are bundled with the Service
part ISU.

Field measure 1. Please perform image adjustment with maintenance mode U411 [Adjusting the scanner
automatically], after replacing the ISU with the latest type.
2. If the abnormal image occurs when scanning, after replacing the ISU with the latest type,
please add the spacer (Poly slider washer) to the screw holes of the ISU.

Parts notes: The latest Parts image scanner, contains the following parts (Together with the leaflet describing the
image check and installation procedure of the spacers).

Poly slider washer_5.1X12X0.2T (2 pcs).
Poly slider washer_5.2X16X0.5T (2 pcs).

Connecting the Flat cable to replace the ISU
The Caution Leaflet 2 (Containing installation instructions of the Spacers) has been bundled with the
ISU Service part.
PREVENT DAMAGE DUE TO STATIC ELECTRICITY, BY USING ANTI-STATIC BAND BEFORE PROCEEDING.

1. Hold the Flat cable at point (A) to insert it (This prevents pressure the the CCD unit).
2. Fasten the Screw after inserting the Flat cable.

Image adjustment when replacing the ISU
Execute [Table (Chart1)] at maintenance mode U411 [Adjusting the scanner automatically].

In the case of inputting the target values.

1. Input values for [Adjust Original] in the maintenance mode U425.
2. Set the test chart (parts number: 7505000005) to the table.
3. Enter maintenance mode U411.
4. Select [Target].
5. Select [Auto] and press the Start key.
6. Select [Table (Chart1)].
7. Select [ALL] to execute.
8. Press the Start key to start the auto adjustment (Refer to the service manual for the details).

Corrective measures after performing the above mentioned procedure
If an error occurs when executing [Table (Chart1)] at maintenance mode U411 and an abnormal image occurs,
check the image and add the height adjuster spacer to adjust it.

Install the Spacers to the Screw position of the ISU at the right side of the Main body, if the Images appear
abnormal as shown on Page 3 (A and B).

Installing the spacer
1. In case of the image A or B, insert the large spacer (16mm diameter, 0.5mm thickness). If the abnormal
image is still there, check the image,
2. If the image A or B appears again, insert the small spacer (12mm diameter, 0.2mm thickness) laying on the
large spacer (16mm diameter, 0.5mm thickness).
3. If the image C or D in the next page appears, insert the small spacer (12mm diameter, 0.2mm thickness).

Installing the spacer
1. In case of the image C or D, insert the large spacer (16mm diameter, 0.5mm thickness). If the abnormal
image is still there, check the image,
2. If the image C or D appears again, insert the small spacer (12mm diameter, 0.2mm thickness) laying on the
large spacer (16mm diameter, 0.5mm thickness).
3. If the image A or B in the next page appears, insert the small spacer (12mm diameter, 0.2mm thickness).
