1 General
The SP/Mechanical Installation Instructions detail the installation of all required hardware and
software to perform Sony Ericsson approved SP/Mechanical level tests and service activities.
2 Hardware
All hardware necessary for this product's test setup is documented in the Equipment List.
2.1 Test Setup

2.2 Computer
An IBM compatible computer (34) with Windows 98, Windows 2000 or Windows ME installed
is required. Refer to the Equipment list for minimum computer requirements.
2.3 Hardlock
A Hardlock (5) with article number KRY 105 165 is required. The Hardlock should be connected
to the PC's parallel port.
2.4 Smart Card Reader
Smart Card (8) Smart Card Reader (7)
The Smart Card Reader comes with the necessary software and instructions for installation.
2.5 Programming Interfaces
There are two types of programming interfaces that may be used. It is only necessary to install
one type of interface. Either programming interface may be selected.
2.5.1 3V Programming Interface
1. Connect the RS-232 cable (4) to the PC's (34) serial port.
2. Connect the 3V Programming Interface (3) to the RS-232 cable (4).

2.5.2 USB Flash Interface
The USB Flash Interface Kit (9) comes with the necessary software and instructions for
installation.
2.6 Label Printer
A Zebra printer (41) model 90xi, 90xii, or 4000 deluxe shall be used. Connect the printer with a
Null Modem (42) cable to the serial port on the computer (34).
3 Software
3.1 EMMA II
EMMA II contains software upgrades and tools required for servicing this phone. EMMA II is
accessible through the CSPN. The Installation and user manuals for EMMAII are available on the
EMMA II start page.

3.2 Labelmake Software
Download the Labelmake software from CSPN (https://cspn.extranet.sonyericsson.com). Unzip
the file and run the setup.exe and follow the instructions. Read the file README.txt under
C:\Program Files\Ericsson\LabelMake and follow the instructions. Start the program by selecting
Labelmake in your Windows START-menu.
To add the latest EU-Database file from CSPN, download the latest file and run the Setup.exe and
follow the instructions.
To add the latest US-Database file from CSPN, download the latest file and unzip to a temporary
file. Copy all the files and paste them in directory C:\Program Files\Ericsson\LabelMake. You
must restart the Labelmake program before using it.
