Rocker Arms and Shafts
Clearance Inspection
Measure the intake rocker shafts and exhaust rocker 3. Measure the inside diameter of each rocker arm,
shaft. and check for an out-of-round condition.
1. Measure the diameter of the shaft at the first rocker Rocker Arm-to-Shaft Clearance:
location. Standard (NEW): 0.018 - 0.054 mm
(0.0007 - 0.0021 in)
Service Limit: 0.08 mm (0.003 in)
Surface should be smooth.
MICROMETER
Inspect rocker arm
face for wear.
2. Zero the gauge to the shaft diameter.
4. Repeat for all rockers.
If over the service limit, replace the rocker shaft and
all overtolerance rocker arms.
