Idle Control System
Brake Pedal Position Switch Signal
This signals the PCM when the brake pedal is depressed.
Inspection of Brake Pedal Position
Switch Signal.
Are the brake lights on without YES Inspect the brake pedal position
depressing the brake pedal? switch (see section 19).
NO
Depress the brake pedal.
NO Inspect the STOP HORN (15 A)
Do the brake lights come on? fuse in the under-hood fuse/ relay
box.
YES
-- Repair short in the wire be-
tween the brake pedal posi-
NO tion switch and the STOP
Is the fuse OK?
HORN (15 A) fuse.
-- Replace the STOP HORN (15 A)
YES
fuse.
-- Repair open in the wire be-
tween the brake pedal posi-
tion switch and the STOP
HORN (15 A) fuse.
Check for an open in the wire -- Inspect the brake pedal posi-
