Fuel Pump Resistor
Troubleshooting Flowchart


  -- Engine will not start.
  -- Inspection of fuel pump resis-
     tor.

                                                                                 FUEL PUMP RESISTOR 2P CONNECTOR
                                                                                 (C704)
  Check the operation of the PGM-
  FI main relay:
  1. Disconnect the fuel pump
      resistor 2P connector.
  2. Measure voltage between fuel
      pump resistor 2P connector
      terminal No. 2 and body
      ground when the ignition
      switch is first turned ON (II).                                               Wire side of female terminals




     Is there battery voltage for       NO     Inspect the PGM-FI main relay
     2 seconds?                                (see page 11-146).

                     YES


                                                                                           JUMPER WIRE




                                        YES
        Does the engine start?                 Replace the fuel pump resistor.

                     NO


  Check for an open in the wire:
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  2. Disconnect the fuel unit sub-
     harness connector.
  3. Measure voltage between the                                                     FUEL UNIT SUB-HARNESS
     fuel unit sub-harness connec-                                                   CONNECTOR (C669)
     tor terminal No. 7 and body
     ground when the ignition
     switch is first turned ON (II).

    Is there battery voltage for        YES    Inspect the fuel pump (see page
    2 seconds?                                 11-142).

                     NO


  Repair open in wire between the
  fuel pump resistor and the fuel                                                  Terminal side of male terminals
  pump.
