Troubleshooting
 General Troubleshooting
 Check the following before you begin:
        Has the suspension been modified in a way that would affect steering?
        Are tire sizes, tire variety and air pressure correct?
        Is the steering wheel original equipment or equivalent?
        Is the power steering pump belt properly adjusted?
        Is steering fluid reservoir filled to proper level?
        Is the engine idle speed correct and steady?



    Hard Steering (Check the power assist (see page 17-12). If the force is over 25 N (2.6 kgf, 5.7 Ibf), proceed with this troubleshooting.



    Check pump fluid pressure (see
    page 17-17).
    Measure steady-state fluid pres-
    sure while idling with the both
    valves fully open.
    It should be 1,500 kPa (15 kgf/ cm2,
    213 psi) or less.




    Check pump fluid pressure (see
    page 17-17).
                                                                                    Check the flow control valve (see page 17-26).
    Measure pump relief pressure
