Ball Joint Boot Replacement                                           Removal
1.   Remove the set ring and the boot.                                1.   Raise the rear of the vehicle, and support it with
                                                                           safety stands in the proper locations (see section 1).
2.   Remove the retainer (upper ball joint only).
                                                                      2.   Remove the rear speaker and damper cap.
     CAUTION: Do not contaminate the boot installa-
     tion section with grease.
                                                                      DAMPER CAP                      DAMPER MOUNTING NUTS
                                                                                                      10 x 1.25 mm
3.   Pack the interior of the boot and lip with grease.
                                                      SET RING
                         Replace as a
                         set.

 Do not damage the                               only)
 sliding surface of
 the ball pin with
 the bearing puller.

                        BALL PIN TAPERED SECTION
4.   Wipe the grease off the sliding surface of the ball
     pin, pack it with fresh grease, and install the retainer
     (Upper ball joint only).                                         3.   Use a floor jack to compress the damper slightly.

     CAUTION:                                                         4.   Remove the damper mounting nuts.
