                                Rearview Mirror Removal
                                '96 - 98 models:

                                1.   Carefully remove the cover with a flat tip screwdriver.

                                     CAUTION: When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver,
                                     wrap it with protective tape to prevent damage.

                                2.    Loosen the lock bolt, then slide the mirror stay from
                                     the lug.

                                                                     to loosen.

                                3.   Remove the lock bolt, then remove the toothed lock
                                     washer and hold spring from the mirror stay.

                                4.   Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

 '99 - 01 models (With automatic dimming):                     4.    Remove the wire cover from the mirror bracket by
                                                                     releasing the hooks in the sequence shown.
 CAUTION: When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver,
 wrap it with protective tape to prevent damage.                                             MIRROR

 1.    Remove the front ceiling light (see section 23).

 2.    Disconnect the connector, and carefully remove the
       bracket cover by releasing the hooks. Take care not
       to scratch the cover and mirror bracket.

                                                               5.    Install the rearview mirror by sliding it over the lug
                                                                     until its spring contacts the lug. Gently tap the mir-
                                       MIRROR                        ror bracket with a flat-tip screwdriver and a plastic

                                                                     hammer. Be careful not to damage the wire.

 3.    To release the spring, slide the rearview mirror for-
       ward by gently tapping the mirror bracket with a
       flat-tip screwdriver and a plastic hammer. Remove
       the mirror from the lug.

                                                               6.    Install the wire cover in the sequence shown. Take
                                                                     care not to damage the hooks.

                                                               7.    Install the bracket cover, and connect the connector,
                                                                     then install the roof console.
