PRECAUTIONS
PRECAUTIONS PFP:00001
A
Precautions for Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) "AIR BAG" and "SEAT
BELT PRE-TENSIONER" EFS0045J
The Supplemental Restraint System such as "AIR BAG" and "SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER", used along B
with a front seat belt, helps to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the driver and front passenger for certain
types of collision. Information necessary to service the system safely is included in the SRS and SB section of
this Service Manual. C
WARNING:
q To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury or death
in the event of a collision which would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be per-
formed by an authorized NISSAN/INFINITI dealer. D
q Improper maintenance, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS, can lead to per-
sonal injury caused by unintentional activation of the system. For removal of Spiral Cable and Air
Bag Module, see the SRS section. E
q Do not use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed to in this
Service Manual. SRS wiring harnesses can be identified by yellow and/or orange harnesses or
harness connectors. BR
Precautions for Brake System EFS0045K
q Always use new brake fluid. Refer to MA-12, "RECOM- G
MENDED FLUIDS AND LUBRICANTS" .
q Never reuse drained brake fluid.
q Be careful not to splash brake fluid on painted areas. H
q To clean or wash all parts of master cylinder, disc brake cal-
iper and wheel cylinder, use clean brake fluid.
q Never use mineral oils such as gasoline or kerosene. They I
will ruin rubber parts of the hydraulic system.
q Use flare nut wrench when removing and installing brake
tube. SBR686C J
q Always tighten brake lines to specified torque when install-
ing.
q Burnish the brake contact surfaces after refinishing or replacing drums or rotors, after replacing K
pads or linings, or if a soft pedal occurs at very low mileage.
WARNING:
q Clean brake pads and shoes with a waste cloth, then wipe with a dust collector. L
Wiring Diagrams and Trouble Diagnosis EFS0045L
When you read wiring diagrams, refer to the following:
M
q Refer to GI-14, "How to Read Wiring Diagrams" .
q Refer to PG-4, "POWER SUPPLY ROUTING CIRCUIT" for power distribution circuit.
When you perform trouble diagnosis, refer to the following:
q Refer to GI-10, "HOW TO FOLLOW TEST GROUPS IN TROUBLE DIAGNOSES" .
q Refer to GI-26, "How to Perform Efficient Diagnosis for an Electrical Incident" .
q For trouble diagnoses of models with ABS, refer to BRC-8, "TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS" .
q For trouble diagnoses of models with TCS even if the diagnostic items are related to the ABS system,
refer to BRC-51, "TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS" .
