PRECAUTIONS
PRECAUTIONS PFP:00001
Precautions for Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) "AIR BAG" and "SEAT
BELT PRE-TENSIONER" EBS00U6D
The Supplemental Restraint System such as "AIR BAG" and "SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER", used along
with a front seat belt, helps to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the driver and front passenger for certain
types of collision. This system includes seat belt switch inputs and dual stage front air bag modules. The SRS
system uses the seat belt switches to determine the front air bag deployment, and may only deploy one front
air bag, depending on the severity of a collision and whether the front occupants are belted or unbelted.
Information necessary to service the system safely is included in the SRS and SB section of this Service Man-
ual.
WARNING:
G To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury or death
in the event of a collision which would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be per-
formed by an authorized NISSAN/INFINITI dealer.
G Improper maintenance, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS, can lead to per-
sonal injury caused by unintentional activation of the system. For removal of Spiral Cable and Air
Bag Module, see the SRS section.
G Do not use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed to in this
Service Manual. SRS wiring harnesses can be identified by yellow and/or orange harnesses or
harness connectors.
Precautions for Liquid Gasket EBS00PS9
REMOVAL OF LIQUID GASKET SEALING
G After removing the bolts and nuts, separate the mating surface and remove the sealant using Tool.
Tool number : KV10111100 (J-37228)
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage the mating surfaces.
G In areas where the Tool is difficult to use, use a plastic hammer
to lightly tap the areas where the sealant is applied.
CAUTION:
If for some unavoidable reason a tool such as a flat-bladed
screwdriver is used, be careful not to damage the mating
surfaces.
WBIA0566E
LIQUID GASKET APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1. Using a scraper, remove the old sealant adhering to the mating
surface.
G Remove the sealant completely from the groove, bolts, and
bolt holes.
2. Thoroughly clean the mating surface removing any adhering
moisture, grease and foreign material.
PBIC0003E
3. Attach the sealant tube to the Tool.
Tool number : WS39930000 ( -- )
G Use Genuine RTV Silicone Sealant or equivalent. Refer to GI-46, "RECOMMENDED CHEMICAL
PRODUCTS AND SEALANTS" .
Revision: March 2006 LU-2 2007 Quest
PRECAUTIONS
4. Apply the sealant without breaks to the specified location with
the specified dimensions using Tool. A
G If there is a groove for the sealant application, apply the seal-
ant to the groove.
LU
C
WBIA0567E
D
G As for the bolt holes, normally apply the sealant inside the
holes. Occasionally, it should be applied outside the holes.
Make sure to read the text of service manual. E
G Within five minutes of sealant application, install the mating
component.
G If the sealant protrudes, wipe it off immediately. F
G Do not retighten after the installation.
G After 30 minutes or more have passed from the installation, fill
the engine with the proper oil and coolant. Refer to MA-9, G

ENGINE OIL
ENGINE OIL PFP:KLA92
Inspection EBS00PSE
ENGINE OIL LEVEL
G Before starting the engine make sure the vehicle is parked on a
flat and level surface, then check the oil level. If the engine is
already running, turn it off and allow five minutes before check-
ing.
G Check that the oil level is within the low (L) and high (H) range
as indicated on the dipstick.
G If the engine oil level is out of range, add oil as necessary. Refer
to MA-9, "RECOMMENDED FLUIDS AND LUBRICANTS" .
SMA954C
ENGINE OIL APPEARANCE
G Check engine oil for white milky or excessive contamination.
G If engine oil becomes milky, it is highly probable that it is contaminated with engine coolant. Repair or
replace damaged parts.
ENGINE OIL LEAKAGE
Check for oil leakage around the following areas:
G Upper and lower oil pan
G Oil pan drain plug
G Oil pressure sensor
G Oil filter
G Oil cooler
G Water pump cover
G Timing chain tensioner cover
G Intake valve timing (IVT) control cover and intake valve timing (IVT) control solenoid valve
G Front cover
G Mating surface between cylinder block and cylinder head
G Mating surface between cylinder head and rocker cover
G Mating surface between the front timing chain case and rear timing chain case
G Mating surface between the front timing chain case and rear timing chain case
G Crankshaft oil seal (front and rear)
ENGINE OIL PRESSURE CHECK
WARNING:
G Be careful not to burn yourself, as engine oil may be hot.
G Put the selector lever in the Park "P" position.
1. Check the oil level. Refer to LU-8, "ENGINE OIL LEVEL" .
2. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor harness connector.
3. Remove the oil pressure sensor.

Idle speed More than 98 kPa (1.0 kg/cm2 , 14 psi)
2,000 rpm 294 kPa (3.0 kg/cm2 , 43 psi) F
CAUTION:
If the difference is extreme, check the oil passages and oil pump for leaks and blockages.
G
7. After the inspections, install the oil pressure sensor as follows:
a. Remove the old sealant adhering to sensor and engine.
b. Apply thread sealant and tighten the oil pressure sensor to specification using Tool. H
