                              (clicks are issued.)
                                                                  Improper grounding of yoke field coil
                                                                  Insufficient carbon brush length
                                                                  Insufficient brush spring pressure
                                                                  Worn pinion teeth
                              Failure of pinion gear to engage
Starter starts but does not                                       Improper sliding of overrunning clutch
                              ring gear
