SUBARU,

          SUBJECT                           LEGACY POWER ANTENNA NOT RETRACTING FULLY
          Repair Procedure:
                                Loosen the antenna dress nut (Do not remove).
                                Raise the antenna mast.
                                Remove the antenna dress nut.
                                Clean the antenna mast, using alcohol.
                                Lubricate with WD40 or the equivalent and wipe off the excess.
                                Install a new dress nut, P/N 86323AC060, orange colored O-ring type.
                                Lower the antenna and tighten the dress nut.
                                Inspect the antenna mast for any bends or damage. If damaged, the antenna mast and nut
                                assembly must be replaced with the modified part, P/N 8 6 3 2 3 A C 0 7 u
                                NOTE: A BENT OR DAMAGED ANTENNA IS NOT A MATTER FOR WARRANTY.
          Production Modification:
          97MY Legacy vehicles produced from 7/11/96 have a new style antenna mast and dress nut.
             Starting production VIN: V"201185
          The modified antenna mast can be identified by having only 6 segments when fully extended. The diameter is
          also smaller. Due to the smaller diameter, a different dress nut is used which can be identified by a blue O-ring.
          This modified antenna part number for 1997 MY to present is 86321AC071.

          the antenna mast.
