    DTC                P0710              Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Cir-
                                          cuit Malfunction (ATF temperature sensor)

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The ATF temperature sensor converts fluid temp. into a resistance valve which is input into the ECM.
  DTC No.                       DTC Detecting Condition                                                Trouble Area
            Either (a) or (b) is detected for 0.5 sec. or more
            (2-trip detection logic)                                          S Open or short in ATF temperature sensor circuit
   P0710    (a) ATF temperature sensor resistance is less than 79 .           S ATF temperature sensor
            (b) After the engine has been operating for 15 minutes or more,   S ECM
            the resistance at the temp. sensor is more than 156 k.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

   1     Check harness and connector between ATF temperature sensor and ECM
         (See page IN-31 ).


                                            NG        Repair or replace the harness or connector.


  OK



   2     Check ATF temperature sensor.

                                          PREPARATION:
                         2                (a) Remove the oil pan.
                                          (b) Remove the solenoid wiring.
                                          CHECK:
                             7            Measure resistance between terminals 2 and 7 of solenoid wir-
                                          ing connector at 10
