DTC C1249 / 58 Stop Light Switch Circuit
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
DTC No. DTC Detecting Condition Trouble Area
When any of the following 1. through 3. is detected:
1. After the ignition switch is turned ON, the condition that
the STP terminal voltage of ECU is 55 % to 75 % of sup-
plied voltage, continues for 1 sec. or more. S Stop light switch
C1249 / 58 2. Stop light lights up continuously for 60 seconds or more S Stop light switch circuit
when vehicle speed is more than 10 km/h and master S Stop light bulb
cylinder pressure is less than 0.5 Mpa.
3. Stop light doesn't light up for 2 seconds or more in spite
of master cylinder pressure of 1 Mpa or more.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1 Check operation of stop light.
CHECK:
Check that the stop light lights up when the brake pedal is depressed and turns off when the brake pedal
is released.
NG Check stop light circuit (See page BE-35 ).
OK
2 Check voltage between terminal STP (48) of skid control ECU and body ground.
PREPARATION:
48 Disconnect the connector from the skid control ECU.
CHECK:
Measure the voltage between terminal 48 of skid control ECU
harness side connector and body ground when the brake pedal
is depressed.
OK:
Voltage: 7.5 - 14 V

OK Check and replace skid control ECU.
NG
3 Check for open circuit in harness and connector between terminal STP of skid
control ECU and stop light switch (See page IN-31 ).
NG Repair or replace harness or connector.
OK
Proceed to next circuit inspection shown in
problem symptoms table (See page
DI-273 ).
