DIAGNOSTICS - TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM

PRE-CHECK
HINT:
When the warning light lights up, immediately check the air
pressure of the tire and adjust it to the specified pressure. If the
vehicle is driven at more 18 mph (30 km/h) after adjustment, the
warning light goes off.
This system needs initializing after changing tires or wheels and
rotating tires.
In the following cases, system might not operate normally.
S When the tire out of specification and tires with different
size or type are used all together.
S When extremely worn tire is found among 4 tires.
S When the compact spare tire or snow tire is used and tire
chains are wound.
S When using the tire with the air pressure extremely higher
than the specified and the air pressure becomes acutely
low due to burst during driving.
S When the vehicle is driven on the extremely rough or slip-
pery frozen road.
w/o Tachometer w/ Tachometer 1. INSPECT TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT OPERA-
TION
When the ignition switch is turned ON, check that the tire pres-
sure warning light goes on for 3 seconds.
HINT:
If the indicator check result is not normal, proceed to trouble-
shooting for the tire pressure warning light circuit (See page
DI-213 ).

3. INSPECT TIRE PRESSURE WARNING STAN-
E1 DARDIZATION SWITCH OPERATION (CHECK MODE)
(a) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
(b) Using SST, connect terminals Ts and E1 of DLC1.

(c) Start the engine.

(d) Check that the ABS warning light blinks.
HINT:
0.13 sec. 0.13 sec.
If the ABS warning light does not blink, inspect the ABS warning
light circuit (See page DI-250 ).

(e) When press the tire pressure warning standardization
switch and check that the tire pressure warning light
flashes 3 times then it goes off.
HINT:
If the tire pressure warning light does not light, inspect the tire
pressure warning light circuit (See page DI-213 ) and tire pres-
sure warning standardization switch circuit (See page
DI-215 ).

7. SYSTEM INITIALIZATION
HINT:
It is necessary to perform the initial setting of system when tire
and wheel have been replaced or tire rotation has been done.
(a) Adjust the air pressure of 4 tires to the specified pressure
(See page SA-2 ).
(b) With the ignition switch ON and the vehicle stopped,
press the tire pressure warning standardization switch
F03261 until the warning light flashes 3 times.
