                                  AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE        -   THROTTLE CABLE


                                                    THROTTLE CABLE                                              AX0CK-02


                                                    ON-VEHICLE REPAIR
                                                    1.    w/ Cruise control system:
                                                          REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL ACTUATOR
                                                    (a)   Remove the battery.
                                                    (b)   Disconnect the connector, remove the 3 bolts and cruise
                                                          control actuator.

                                                    2.     DISCONNECT THROTTLE CABLE
                                                    Loosen the adjusting nut and disconnect the cable from the
                                                    throttle linkage.
                                                    3.     REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH
                                                           (See page AX-5 )
                                                    4.     REMOVE VALVE BODY (See page AX-6 )

                                                    5.    REMOVE THROTTLE CABLE
                                                    (a)   Remove the bolt and retaining plate.
                                                    (b)   Pull out the cable from the transaxle case.

                                                    6.     INSTALL THROTTLE CABLE
                                                    If the throttle cable is new, perform the following operations (a)
                          200 mm
                                                    - (c).
                          (7.87 in.)
                                                    (a) Bend the cable so that there is radius of about 200 mm
                                                           (7.87 in.).
                                                    (b) Pull the inner cable lightly until the resistance is slightly
                                                           felt, and hold it there.
                                                    (c) Stake the stopper, 0.8 - 1.5 mm (0.031 - 0.059 in.) from
        0.8 - 1.5 mm (0.031 - 0.059 in.)                   the end of the outer cable.

                                                    (d) Install a new O-ring to the throttle cable.
                                                    (e) Pull in the throttle cable and install the retaining bolt.
                                                           Torque: 5.5 N
