                       SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM   -   FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
                                                                                                       RS0IG-01


                                               REMOVAL
                                               NOTICE:
                                                S  If the wiring connector of the SRS is disconnected
                                                   and the ignition switch is at ON or ACC position, DTCs
                                                   will be recorded.
                                                S  Never use the airbag parts from another vehicle.
                                                   When replacing parts, replace with new parts.



                                               1.    DISCONNECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG AS-
                                                     SEMBLY CONNECTOR
                                               (a) Open the glove compartment door.
                                               (b) Using a screwdriver, remove the glove compartment door
                                                     finish plate.
                                               NOTICE:
                                               When handling the airbag connector, take care not to dam-
                                               age the airbag wire harness.
                                      H02740   (c) Pull up the connector from the glove compartment door
                                                     finish plate.
                                               (d) Disconnect the front passenger airbag assembly connec-
                                                     tor.
                                               2.    REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL
                                                     (See page BO-101 )
                                               3.    REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
                                               Remove the 4 screws and No. 2 heater to register duct from the
                                               instrument panel.




                                               4.    REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
                                               (a)   Remove the 2 bolts.

                                               (b) Pry off the 5 clips and remove the front passenger airbag
                                                   assembly as shown in the illustration.
                                               CAUTION:
                                                S  Do not store the front passenger airbag assembly
                                                   with the airbag deployment side facing downward.
                                                S  Never disassemble the front passenger airbag as-
                                                   sembly.
                                               (c) Remove the No. 1 and No. 2 safety pad retainer with the
                                      H11825       2 bolts.
