                       SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM   -   SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

                                               REMOVAL
                                               NOTICE:
                                                S  If the wiring connector of the SRS is disconnected
                                                   and the ignition switch is at ON position, DTCs will be
                                                   recorded.
                                                S  Never use the airbag parts from another vehicle.
                                                   When replacing parts, replace them with new parts.



                                               1.   REMOVE FRONT SEAT
                                               (a) Remove the 2 seat track covers and 4 bolts.
                                               (b) Disconnect the side airbag connector.
                                               NOTICE:
                                               When handling the airbag connector, take care not to dam-
                                               age the airbag wire harness.
                                               (c) Remove the front seat.
                                               2.   w Manual adjuster:
                                      H17022        REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE
                                               3.   w/ Manual adjuster:
                                                    REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER KNOB
                                               4.   w/ Power adjuster:
                                                    REMOVE POWER SEAT SWITCHES




                                               5.    REMOVE CUP HOLDER
                                               (a)   Remove the 2 screws.
                                               (b)   Slide the cup holder upward to remove it.

                                               6.    REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD
                                               (a)   Remove the 2 screws and front seat cushion shield.
                                               (b)   Employ the same manner described above to the other
                                                     side.
                                               7.    REMOVE ASSIST GRIP
                                               8.    REMOVE ARMREST

                                               9.   REMOVE SEATBACK ASSEMBLY
                                               Remove the 4 bolts and seatback assembly.
                                               CAUTION:
                                               Do not store the seatback assembly with the airbag deploy-
                                               ment side facing downward.




                                               10.   REMOVE SEATBACK FRAME
                                               (a)   Disengage the hook from the seatback frame as shown
                                                     in the illustration.
                                               (b)   Remove the seatback frame from the seatback cover with
                                                     pad.
