AIR CONDITIONING - REAR COOLING UNIT
REAR COOLING UNIT (5-Door)

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SEAT
2. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
3. REMOVE BACK DOOR SCUFF PLATE
4. REMOVE RH QUARTER TRIM PLATE (See page BO-79 )
5. REMOVE BLOWER RESISTOR
(a) Disconnect the connector.
(b) Remove the 2 screws and blower resistor.
6. INSPECT EVAPORATOR AND FITTINGS FOR LEAKAGE
Using a gas leak detector, check for leakage.
If there is leakage, check the tightening torque at the joints or check the evaporator.
7. CHECK AMOUNT OF GAS DURING REFRIGERANT CYCLE
8. SET ON MANIFOLD GAUGE SET (See page AC-20 )
9. RUN ENGINE
Run engine at 1,500 rpm for at least 5 minutes.
Then check that the high pressure reading is 1.37 - 1.57 MPa (14 - 16 kgf/cm2, 199 - 228 psi).
10. CHECK EXPANSION VALVE
If the exexpasion valve is faulty, the low pressure reading will drop to 0 kPa (0 kgf/cm2, 0 psi), otherwise it
is OK.
HINT:
When the low pressure drops to 0 kPa (0 kgf/cm2, 0 psi), check the receiver's IN and OUT sides for no tem-
perature difference.
