DISTANCE CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUIT
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
This switch sets the vehicle-to-vehicle mode.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1 INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSY
(a) Remove the steering pad switch assy.

(b) Check the continuity between terminal 2 (DIST) and 4 (ECC) of steering pad switch assy connector
when distance control switch is operated.
Standard:
Switch position Specified condition
Distance control switch is ON Below 1
Distance control switch is OFF 10 k or higher
HINT:
When a malfunction is found on the distance control switch, replace the steering pad switch assy.

2 CHECK WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(DISTANCE CONTROL ECU -
STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSY)
(a) Check for an open or short circuit in harness and connector between the distance control ECU and
the steering pad switch assy (See page 01-37 ).

3 CHECK WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSY -
BODY GROUND)
(a) Check for an open or short circuit in harness and connector between the steering pad switch assy and
body ground (See page 01-37 ).

4 INSPECT DISTANCE CONTROL ECU ASSY
(a) Remove the distance control ECU with connector.
(b) Ignition switch ON.

(c) Measure the voltage between terminal MODE (D2-16) of
the distance control ECU and body ground, when dis-
tance control switch is operated.
Standard:
MODE Switch position Voltage
Distance control switch is ON Below 1 V
I34900 Distance control switch is OFF 10 to 14 V
