DTC P1615/61 COMMUNICATION ERROR FROM DISTANCE
CONTROL ECU TO ECM
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The distance control ECU and ECM always communicate the data for vehicle general control and diagnosis
function each other through communication line.
The distance control ECU determines the distance, relative speed, and target deceleration speed based on
the signal from the laser radar sensor, and it transmits a control demand signal to the skid control ECU.

The malfunction code is output when the communication be-
tween the distance control ECU and ECM is invalid for 0.5 sec. S Communication circuit
P1615/61 or more, while the laser radar sensor is in operation, or the S Distance control ECU
communication from the distance control ECU becomes log- S ECM
ically distant for 0.5 sec. or more.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1 CHECK WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(DISTANCE CONTROL ECU - ECM)
(a) Check for an open or short circuit in the harness and the connector between the distance control ECU
and ECM (See page 01-37 ).

2 INSPECT DISTANCE CONTROL ECU ASSY
(a) Remove the distance control ECU with connector.
GND D2 (b) Turn the ignition switch ON.

5 ms (c) Check the signal waveform between terminal LCS
2V (D2-25) and GND (D2-12) of the distance control ECU.
Standard:
The correct signal waveform appears, as shown in
the illustration.
GND HINT:
S Gauge set: 2 V/DIV, 5 ms/DIV
S Condition: Ignition switch ON
