DIAGNOSTICS - TOYOTA PARK ASSIST SYSTEM

TOYOTA PARK ASSIST SYSTEM
                                                                                                    05BUR-01

DESCRIPTION
1. NOTE FOR TOYOTA PARK ASSIST SYSTEM
(a) Under the following conditions, the sensor of the clearance sonar may not operate properly.
      (1) When foreign matter such as snow or mud gets on the sensor (the detection function returns to
normal if the foreign matters are cleared away).
      (2) When the sensor is frozen (the detection function returns to normal if the sensor is defrosted).
HINT:
Especially in cold weather, a malfunction warning may be indicated and the sensor may not able to detect
any obstacles due to a frozen sensor etc.
(b) The detection range of the clearance sonar may be affected by the following conditions.
      (1) Foreign matter such as snow or mud gets on the sensor.
      (2) In boiling weather and cold weather.
(c) Under the following conditions, the clearance sonar may make detection error.
      (1) When something that generates ultrasonic wave, such as a horn of another vehicle, engine
sound of motorcycle, or air brake sound of large-sized vehicle approaches.
      (2) When the vehicle gets caught in a downpour or when mud or water splashed the vehicle's body.
      (3) When the vehicle is largely tilted.
      (4) When the vehicle is equipped with a commercial fender pole or radio antenna.
      (5) When foreign matter such as snow or mud gets on the sensor.
      (6) When a vehicle equipped with a sonar system is in the vicinity.
      (7) When the vehicle is equipped with a towing hook.
(d) The clearance sonar may detect the following objects.
      (1) Threadlike and thin object such as wire and rope.
      (2) Something that easily absorbs the ultrasonic wave such as cottons, snow, etc.
      (3) Objects with a sharp edge.
      (4) Short objects.
      (5) Tall objects with a projected upper part.
(e) Other conditions
      (1) The sensor does not detect an object that is lying just under the bumper. Also, the sensor may
suddenly be disabled to detect objects lying lower than the sensor or thin pickets even though
            the sensor once detects them.
      (2) The sensor may be unable to detect objects as the sensor gets too close to the objects.
      (3) The sensor may not operate properly if it is given a strong impact, for example, the sensor is
struck strongly or hit with an object, etc.
