DTC Always ON MALFUNCTION IN SKID CONTROL ECU
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
DTC No. DTC Detecting Condition Trouble Area
Any of the following 1., 2. or 3. is detected: S Battery
1. Voltage of ECU terminal IG1 remains at more than 17 V. S Charging system
Always ON
2. The ECU connectors are off from the ECU. S Power source circuit
3. There is a malfunction in the ECU internal circuit. S Skid control ECU

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1 CHECK DTC FOR ABS
(a) Check if the other DTCs are detected (See page 05-435 ).
YES REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT

2 INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR SECURELY CONNECTED
NO CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU
YES
3 INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE(IG1 TERMINAL)
IN CASE OF USING THE HAND-HELD TESTER:
(a) Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
(b) Start the engine.
(c) Select the DATA LIST mode on the hand-held tester.
(d) Check the voltage condition, which is output from the ECU and displayed on the hand-held tester.
OK:
"Normal" is displayed.
IN CASE OF NOT USING THE HAND-HELD TESTER:
(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(c) Measure voltage between terminal IG1 and GND of the
brake actuator harness side connector.
OK:
Voltage: 10 to 14 V

4 CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(SKID CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND)
(a) Check for open circuit in harness and connector between body ground and skid control ECU
(See page 01-37 ).

5 INSPECT BATTERY
(a) Check the battery positive voltage.
OK:
Voltage: 10 to 14 V
NG INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM
OK
CHECK AND REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(BATTERY - IG1 TERMINAL)
6 INSPECT ABS WARNING LIGHT
IN CASE OF USING THE HAND-HELD TESTER:
(a) Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
(b) Start the engine.
(c) Select the item "ABS WARN LIGHT" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the ABS warning light with the
hand-held tester.
(d) Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the ABS warning light is shown on the combination meter by the hand-
held tester.
IN CASE OF NOT USING THE HAND-HELD TESTER:
(a) Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the connector from the skid control ECU.
(b) Ground the WA terminal of the skid control ECU.
(c) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(d) Check the ABS warning light goes off.
