DTC B0137/71 SHORT IN P/T SQUIB (LH) CIRCUIT (TO
GROUND)
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The P/T squib LH circuit consists of the airbag sensor assy center and the front seat outer belt assy LH.
This circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.
DTC B0137/71 is recorded when a short to ground is detected in the P/T squib LH circuit.

ground signal in the P/T squib LH circuit for 0.5 seconds.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1 CHECK FLOOR WIRE(P/T SQUIB LH CIRCUIT)
Floor Wire (a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
P/T Squib LH
(b) Disconnect negative (-) terminal cable from the battery,
A Airbag and wait for at least 90 seconds.
D C B Sensor (c) Disconnect the connector from the airbag sensor assy
Assy center and the front seat outer belt assy LH.
Center (d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the
P44 table below.
Standard:
PL+ PL- Tester connection Condition Specified condition

2 CHECK AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER
Floor Wire (a) Connect the connector to the airbag sensor assy center.
P/T Squib LH
(b) Using a service wire, connect P44-1 (PL+) and P44-2
Airbag (PL-) of connector "C".
D C Sensor NOTICE:
Assy S Twist the end of the service wire in order to insert it
P44 Center into the connector.
S Do not forcibly insert the twisted service wire into the
PL+ PL- terminals of the connector when connecting.
(c) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,
Service Wire and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at
least 60 seconds.
DLC3 (e) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see page 05-777 ).

(f) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(g) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at
least 60 seconds.

(h) Check the DTCs (see page 05-777 ).

HINT:
Codes other than code B0137/71 may be output at this time, but

3 CHECK FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH(P/T SQUIB LH)
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
P/T Squib LH
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the bat-
Airbag tery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
DC Sensor
(c) Disconnect the service wire from connector "C".
Assy
(d) Connect the connector to the front seat outer belt assy
Center
LH.
(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,
and wait for at least 2 seconds.
DLC3 DTC B0137/71 (f) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at
least 60 seconds.
(g) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see page 05-777 ).
(h) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
CG TC (i) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at

(j) Check the DTCs (see page 05-777 ).
OK:
DTC B0137/71 is not output.
HINT:
Codes other than code B0137/71 may be output at this time, but

USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK (SEE PAGE 05-770 )
HINT:
S Perform the simulation method by selecting the check mode with the hand-held tester (see page
05-780 ).
S After selecting the check mode, perform the simulation method by wiggling each connector of the air-
bag system or driving the vehicle on a city or rough road (see page 05-780 ).
