DTC B0138/72 SHORT IN P/T SQUIB (LH) CIRCUIT (TO B+)
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The P/T squib LH circuit consists of the airbag sensor assy center and the front seat outer belt assy LH.
This circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.
DTC B0137/71 is recorded when a short to ground is detected in the P/T squib LH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1 CHECK FLOOR WIRE(P/T SQUIB CIRCUIT)
Floor Wire (a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
P/T Squib LH
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the bat-
A Airbag tery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
D C B Sensor (c) Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assy
Assy center and the front seat outer belt assy LH.
Center (d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,
P44 and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
PL+ PL- (f) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table
below.

2 CHECK AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
P/T Squib LH Floor Wire
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the bat-
Airbag tery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
D C Sensor (c) Connect the connector to the airbag sensor assy center.
Assy (d) Using a service wire, connect P44-1 (PL+) and P44-2
P44 Center (PL-) of connector "C".
NOTICE:
PL+ PL- S Twist the end of the service wire in order to insert it
into the connector.
Service Wire S Do not forcibly insert the twisted service wire into the
terminals of the connector when connecting.
(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,
DLC3 and wait for at least 2 seconds.
DTC B0138/72
(f) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at
least 60 seconds.
(g) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see page 05-777 ).
CG TC (h) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
H01017 (i) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at

(j) Check the DTCs (see page 05-777 ).
OK:
DTC B0138/72 is not output.
HINT:
Codes other than code B0138/72 may be output at this time, but
they are not related to this check.

3 CHECK FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH(P/T SQUIB LH)
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
P/T Squib LH
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the bat-
tery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Airbag
(c) Disconnect the service wire from connector "C".
DC Sensor
(d) Connect the connector to the front seat outer belt assy
Assy
LH.
Center
(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,
and wait for at least 2 seconds.
DLC3 DTC B0138/72 (f) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at
least 60 seconds.
(g) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see page 05-777 ).
(h) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
CG TC (i) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at

(j) Check the DTCs (see page 05-777 ).
OK:
DTC B0138/72 is not output.
HINT:

USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK (SEE PAGE 05-770 )
HINT:
S Perform the simulation method by selecting the check mode with the hand-held tester (see page
05-780 ).
S After selecting the check mode, perform the simulation method by wiggling each connector of the air-
bag system or driving the vehicle on a city or rough road (see page 05-780 ).
