DTC B1168/86 SHORT IN CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB (LH)
CIRCUIT (TO B+)
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The curtain shield squib LH circuit consists of the airbag sensor assy center and the curtain shield airbag
assy LH.
The circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.
DTC B1168/86 is recorded when a short to B+ is detected in the curtain shield squib LH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1 CHECK FLOOR WIRE(CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB LH CIRCUIT)
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Curtain Shield Floor Wire (b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the bat-
Squib LH tery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
A Airbag (c) Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assy

center and the curtain shield airbag assy LH.

(d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,

C14 and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
ICL+ ICL- (f) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table
below.

Floor Wire (a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Curtain Shield (b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the bat-

tery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Airbag (c) Connect the connector to the airbag sensor assy center.

(d) Using a service wire, connect C14-1 (ICL+) and C14-2
C14 Assy
(ICL-) of connector "C".
ICL+ Center
NOTICE:
ICL- S Twist the end of the service wire in order to insert it
Service Wire into the connector.
S Do not forcibly insert the twisted service wire into the
terminals of the connector when connecting.
(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,
DLC3 and wait for at least 2 seconds.
DTC B1168/86
(f) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at
least 60 seconds.
(g) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see page 05-777 ).
CG TC (h) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
H01017 (i) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at

(j) Check the DTCs (see page 05-777 ).
OK:
DTC B1168/86 is not output.
HINT:

(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

least 60 seconds.
(g) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see page 05-777 ).
CG TC (h) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(i) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at

S Perform the simulation method by selecting the check mode with the hand-held tester (see page
05-780 ).
S After selecting the check mode, perform the simulation method by wiggling each connector of the air-
bag system or driving the vehicle on a city or rough road (see page 05-780 ).
