DTC B1161/84 OPEN IN CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB (RH)
CIRCUIT
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The curtain shield squib RH circuit consists of the airbag sensor assy center and the curtain shield airbag
assy RH.
The circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.
DTC B1161/84 is recorded when an open circuit is detected in the curtain shield squib RH circuit.

signal in the curtain shield squib RH circuit for 2 seconds.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1 CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO.2(CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB RH CIRCUIT)
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Floor Wire No.2 (b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the bat-
Airbag tery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Curtain Shield Sensor (c) Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assy
Squib RH Assy center and the curtain shield airbag assy RH.
A Center (d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the
D C B table below.

2 CHECK AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER
(a) Connect the connector to the airbag sensor assy center.
Floor Wire No.2
Airbag (b) Using a service wire, connect C15-1 (ICR+) and C15-2
Curtain Shield Sensor (ICR-) of connector "C".
Squib RH Assy NOTICE:
Center S Twist the end of the service wire in order to insert it
D C
C15 into the connector.
S Do not forcibly insert the twisted service wire into the
ICR+ ICR- terminals of the connector when connecting.
(c) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,
Service Wire and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at
least 60 seconds.
(e) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see page 05-777 ).
DLC3 DTC B1161/84
(f) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(g) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at
least 60 seconds.
CG TC (h) Check the DTCs (see page 05-777 ).

H11645 H10600 H42129 DTC B1161/84 is not output.
HINT:
Codes other than code B1161/84 may be output at this time, but
they are not related to this check.

3 CHECK CURTAIN SHIELD AIR BAG ASSY RH(CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB RH)
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the bat-

tery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Curtain Shield Sensor (c) Disconnect the service wire from connector "C".
Squib RH Assy (d) Connect the connector to the curtain shield airbag assy
Center RH.
(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,

and wait for at least 2 seconds.
DLC3 DTC B1161/84 (f) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at
least 60 seconds.
(g) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see page 05-777 ).
(h) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
CG TC (i) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at

OK:
DTC B1161/84 is not output.
HINT:

USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK (SEE PAGE 05-770 )
HINT:
S Perform the simulation method by selecting the check mode with the hand-held tester (see page
05-780 ).
S After selecting the check mode, perform the simulation method by wiggling each connector of the air-
bag system or driving the vehicle on a city or rough road (see page 05-780 ).
