DTC B1630/83 SHORT IN CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB REAR
(RH) CIRCUIT
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The curtain shield squib rear RH circuit consists of the airbag sensor assy center and the curtain shield airbag
assy RH.
The circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.
DTC B1630/83 is recorded when a short circuit is detected in the curtain shield squib rear RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1 CHECK CONNECTOR
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Disconnect the connectors from the curtain shield airbag assy RH.
(d) Check that the floor wire No.2 connector (on the curtain shield airbag assy RH side) is not damaged.
OK:
The lock button is not disengaged, or the claw of the lock is not deformed or damaged.
NG REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE NO.2
OK
2 CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO.2(CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB REAR RH CIRCUIT)
(a) Disconnect the connector from the airbag sensor assy
Floor Wire No.2 center.
Airbag (b) Release the activation prevention mechanism built into
Curtain Shield Sensor connector "B" (see page 05-770 ).
Squib Rear RH Assy (c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the
A Center table below.

3 CHECK AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER
(a) Connect the connector to the airbag sensor assy center.
(b) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,
and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(d) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see page 05-777 ).
(e) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

OK:
DTC B1630/83 is not output.

4 CHECK CURTAIN SHIELD AIR BAG ASSY RH(CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB REAR RH)
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery,
and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Connect the connector to the curtain shield airbag assy
Squib Rear RH Assy RH.
Center (d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,
and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(e) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at
DLC3 DTC B1630/83 least 60 seconds.
(f) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see page 05-777 ).
(g) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(h) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at
CG TC least 60 seconds.

OK:
DTC B1630/83 is not output.
HINT:
Codes other than code B1630/83 may be output at this time, but
they are not related to this check.

HINT:
S Perform the simulation method by selecting the check mode with the hand-held tester (see page
05-780 ).
S After selecting the check mode, perform the simulation method by wiggling each connector of the air-
bag system or driving the vehicle on a city or rough road (see page 05-780 ).
