DTC B1633/82 SHORT IN CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB REAR
(RH) CIRCUIT (TO B+)
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The curtain shield squib rear RH circuit consists of the airbag sensor assy center and the curtain shield airbag
assy RH.
The circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.
DTC B1633/82 is recorded when a short to B+ is detected in the curtain shield squib rear RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1 CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO.2(CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB REAR RH CIRCUIT)
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Floor Wire No.2 (b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the bat-
Airbag tery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Curtain Shield Sensor (c) Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assy
Squib Rear RH Assy center and the curtain shield airbag assy RH.
A Center (d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,
D C B and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(e) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
CR2+ CR2- (f) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table
below.

2 CHECK AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER
Floor Wire No.2 (a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Airbag (b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the bat-
Curtain Shield Sensor tery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Squib Rear RH Assy (c) Connect the connector to the airbag sensor assy center.
Center (d) Using a service wire, connect C17-1 (CR2+) and C17-2
D C
C17 (CR2-) of connector "C".
NOTICE:
CR2+ CR2-
S Twist the end of the service wire in order to insert it
Service Wire into the connector.
S Do not forcibly insert the twisted service wire into the
terminals of the connector when connecting.
(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,
DLC3
DTC B1633/82 and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(f) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at
least 60 seconds.
(g) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see page 05-777 ).
CG TC (h) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
H01020 (i) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at

(j) Check the DTCs (see page 05-777 ).
OK:
DTC B1633/82 is not output.
HINT:
Codes other than code B1633/82 may be output at this time, but
they are not related to this check.

3 CHECK CURTAIN SHIELD AIR BAG ASSY RH(CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB REAR RH)
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the bat-

tery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Curtain Shield Sensor (c) Disconnect the service wire from connector "C".
Squib Rear RH Assy (d) Connect the connector to the curtain shield airbag assy
Center RH.
D C (e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery,
and wait for at least 2 seconds.
DLC3 (f) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at

(g) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see page 05-777 ).
(h) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
CG TC (i) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at

USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK (SEE PAGE 05-770 )
HINT:
S Perform the simulation method by selecting the check mode with the hand-held tester (see page
05-780 ).
S After selecting the check mode, perform the simulation method by wiggling each connector of the air-
bag system or driving the vehicle on a city or rough road (see page 05-780 ).
