PRE-CHECK
1. SELECT COMPASS DISPLAY MODE
(a) The MODE switch allows you to select Display or Non-display mode of the compass.
2. SET ZONE
(a) Deviation between the "magnetic north" and "actual north" differs depending on the terrestrial location.
Therefore, the adjustment of the magnetism is required. Because the magnetic condition differs de-
pending on the area where the vehicle is used, it is necessary for each user to set the zone. (Refer
to Compass Zone Map). The zone setting can be changed using the E/M switch.
3. PERFORM CALIBRATION
(a) Because each vehicle has its own magnetic field, the calibration should be performed for each individu-
al vehicle. This compass function is used when storing the record of the vehicle's magnetic field.
4. WHEN COMPASS MAGNETIZED:
(a) A compass could be magnetized during shipping by vessels or freight cars. Therefore, make sure to
perform the calibration and ensure that calibration is performed properly before delivery. If this cannot
be done (cannot be completed in spite of driving around several times), it may be caused by magneti-
zation. Demagnetize the vehicle using a demagnetizer and perform the calibration again.
5. SET COMPASS
Press E/M and MODE Switches
at the same time. On Duration On Duration
Normal Mode
Ignition switch ON.
Pressed for 5 sec.
Zone Setting Mode (Step 6)
Pressed for 10 sec.
E/M Switch ON
Zone area +1
Calibration Mode (Step 7)
Leaving it untouched
for a while
Normal Mode

6. ZONE SETTING MODE
(a) With outside temperature displayed, simultaneously press the E/M switch and MODE switch for 5 se-
conds until the "VAR" indication is indicated on the display.
(b) Referring the map,check the number for the area where the vehicle will be used. Then, Press the E/M
switch until the number is indicated on the display.
(c) Leave it untouched for 10 seconds, and check that the display returns to the compass, outside temper-
ature mode.
HINT:
The number that is set last is memorized.

7. CALIBRATION SETTING MODE
(a) With outside temperature displayed, simultaneously press the E/M switch and MODE switch for 10 se-
conds until the "CAL" indication is indicated on display.
(b) Drive the vehicle at 5 mph (8 km/h) or less in the circle direction. When the "CAL" indication goes off
and the compass returens to the normal mode, the calibration is completed.
HINT:
After the calibration is completed, it is not necessary to perform the above procedures unless the magnetic
field strength is drastically changed. If this happens, the azimuthal display will be changed to "CAL".
