ENGINE COOLANT
TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR SF1Z8-01
INSPECTION
1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
3. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SEN-
SOR
(a) Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor con-
nector.
(b) Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor and gas-
ket from the water by-pass joint.
4. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SEN-
Ohmmeter
SOR RESISTANCE
Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between termi-
nals.
Resistance:

2.32 to 2.59 k at 20 _C (68 _F)
20
0.310 to 0.326 k at 80 _C (176 _F)

NOTICE:

Acceptable When inspecting the water temperature sensor in water,
3 prevent water flow into the terminals. After inspection,

wipe the water off from the sensor.
