Maintenance checks

  To keep the performance of the copier/printer on a high level the following maintenance checks must be carried
  out every visit.



      solve the cause of the problem as described in [ Diagnostics ]
      replace the consumable which has reached the end of life such as.
      - clean brush
      - pin array
      -spiral cleaner

  Note:
  Replace the belts in the TTF unit (the TTF/ conveyer/ pre-heat) not preventive but only if they cause copy/print
  quality problems.

  The OPC can be polluted via the separation wheels. Toner and/or glue and/or rubber particles frrom the
  separation wheel can be transferred to the OPC. In this case try to clean the OPC . Use xxxxx .

  Fused toner on the OPC

  1. General:

  Fused toner on the OPC is very difficult to remove. If a new OPC has to be installed pay attention to the items as
  listed below in order to prevent/reduce toner fusing.
       clean the glue cleaner
       when replacing the OPC always execute the anti-stick procedure. A new OPC may only run against a TTF
       belt which has made at least 20.000 copies/prints. A new OPC may NEVER come in contact with a new
       TTF-belt.
       after the anti-stick procedure print select test 46 and make at least 100 prints to decrease the stickiness of
       the surface of the OPC
       carry out test 04 7 01 to adjust the DC of the LPH . Take the first print which is background free + 6 prints
       extra
       every time the technicain replaces a new TTF belt, check the position of the NTC; see The TTF-NTC 06R2

  2. The preventive maintenance 31x5


  To decrease the service calls and service costs it is important to check every visit:

      Developing unit:

      Clean the edges of the magnetic roller from toner with the vacuum cleaner
      Clean the strip of the developing unit above the magnet roller
      Clean the white melinex strip in the engine
    OPC:

    When replacing the OPC always execute the anti-stick procedure. A new OPC may only run against a TTF
    belt which has made at least 20.000 copies/prints. A new OPC may NEVER come in contact with a new
    TTF-belt. carry out test 04 7 01 to adjust the DC of the LPH . Take the first print which is background free +
    6 prints extra.
    Very high volume customers (more than 200.000 copies/ month), start after the anti-
    stickprocedure with the value copies with master = 40.000, SDS-test 01801.
    Check every visit the OPC and look if no toner is fused on the OPC, if toner is fused try to clean.
    If toner is fused at the edges of the OPC at about 60-70 cm after the joint, replace the spiral
    cleaner

    TTF:

    After replacing a new spiral cleaner, configure the value blacks with TTF belt cleaner, SDS test
    06802, on 4 (so not on 0)
    Check the ttf-belt on damage, which comes from the edges of the paper, to much damage of the
    TTF-belt: replace
    Check the sheet of the sheetcleaners. There may be no toner build up at the edges of the sheet.
    The best is to cut off the sheet every visit.

Check if toner dust is present in the area around the developing unit. Presence of toner dust will result in spots
on the copies/prints and build up of toner at the edges of the sheet cleaners. (toner fusing on the OPC)
Check the sheet cleaner. If there is toner build up, cut the sheet..

The average life time of the separation wheels in the paper tray is approximately 400.000 copies/prints. Check
the life time and replace if necessary.
If error [ 12 7 01: BPT: sheet too late at PSTSE 16B1 ] is generated, the wheels might also have reached end of
life.

The background on the copy/print can be analogue background or digital background

Analoge background:
To prevent/remove analogue back ground, the technician has to carry out test 04 7 01 every visit. [ Duty cycle
background free ]
Take the first print which is background free + 6 prints extra. If the result is higher than DC= 500, also carry out
test 04 7 02. Check on the fifth print if all pixels are printed well.

Digital background.
If a cloudy pattern is visible in black images, replace the transfer roller Z0120- 80

Check the level of the cooling liquid of the glue cleaner and fill if necessary
